Does any of this feel familiar?

Depression can affect your mood, interest in things, sleep and appetite. Everyday tasks may feel harder. Your clinician considers how you feel and how long it has been.

The day feels heavy before it starts.

Getting out of bed, showering and finding something to eat can feel like several big tasks before the day has begun.

Things you used to look forward to feel distant.

A favourite activity or plans with friends do not hold the same pull. It can be hard to explain why.

Even a small task feels like too much.

The laundry waits. Messages go unanswered. You know they are there, but finding the energy to start feels difficult.

Your sleep no longer feels like your own.

You may spend much longer in bed or lie awake when you want to sleep. Either way, the next day feels harder.

You are hard on yourself for finding things hard.

You compare today with what you used to manage. That comparison can make asking for help feel harder too.

You cannot quite find the words.

When someone asks how you are, you say fine. What has changed feels bigger than a quick answer.

These experiences can have different explanations. You do not need to recognise every one to ask for help. Your clinician looks at the pattern, your history and how life is affected.

  1. Check in each week

Share symptoms, side effects and mood. Each month, add a fuller look at sleep and daily life.

  2. Your prescriber reviews

They follow how you feel over time, alongside your treatment.

  3. You have a next step

Your clinician decides whether to continue, adjust treatment or arrange a visit.

Message your care team between check-ins when you have a concern.

What your care could include

  • Medication, if your clinician finds it appropriate for you.
  • Help finding therapy, including publicly funded options where available.
  • Support with sleep, daily routines or reviewing your current medication.
  • Follow-ups to hear how you feel and review your care.

Your clinician will explain what they recommend and why. A diagnosis or prescription is not guaranteed.

Questions you may have.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Call or text 9-8-8 any time for suicide crisis support. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Avora does not provide emergency care. Please seek help now rather than waiting here.

Will I have a chance to talk to someone?

Your clinician reads your answers and may arrange a video visit if more discussion would help. That review is included in your fee.

How do you know an antidepressant is right for me?

Your clinician asks about your mood over time, including periods of unusually high energy, and reviews your health history before recommending treatment.

What if I need more support?

Your clinician can ask more questions, arrange a video visit or recommend further care. Their additional review is included in the $49 fee.

What if I think ADHD is part of it?

You can share that in your answers. Your clinician can help you decide whether the ADHD assessment would be a useful next step.

How does delivery work?

Delivery is free and tracked across Ontario. You can also have your prescription sent to your own pharmacy. Your Avora care fee stays the same.

Is it covered by OHIP?

Avora fees are paid privately. Your workplace or private plan may reimburse part of the cost. We can provide a receipt for you to check.
